Job Summary:   The Gender Officer will be responsible for working on gender focused details of the projects and provide support to ASRH and Livelihoods teams in enduring that gender perspectives are mainstreamed into all activities including Assessments, planning, implementation (Equitable Participation of Adolescent and Youth), service provision, capacity building and MEAL.S/he ensure adherence to SCI principles on gender equality as well as the Child Protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Red Cross Code of Conduct.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants for the Save the Children Gender Officer job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate social and development field such as Social Science, Sociology, Gender/ women Studies, Development Studies, Community Development or Rural Development, Public Health, International Development.
  • Two to three years of experience working on gender development programming, preferably in Humanitarian contexts.
  • Familiarity with key international standards for humanitarian work.
  • Experience in training and community consultation highly desired
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international and local policies and frameworks relating to ASRH and gender.
  • Good understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Relevant experience on community based social development and gender projects with in INGO particularly those addressing women's rights and Men Engage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and negotiate, taking into account cultural and language difficulties.
  • Experience working with Adolescent and Youth on SRH and Cash for Work in emergency contexts
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently. and excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
