Job Summary:   The Manager Security will be responsible for managing the airline’s operational security functions and ensure that all staff and passengers comply with aviation security regulations. He/she will is also responsible for ensuring the safety of the public and his security staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Monitor the security status of the airport and recognize any possible threats or concerns.
  • Analyze all the reports on security and inspections to ensure they are in accordance with security procedures.
  • Deal with any issue that does not comply with the standard security procedures.
  • Take lead on selection, recruitment and deployment of security employees.
  • Participate in performing background checks on the employees that are hired.
  • Ensure the orientation and training of new security staff.
  • Conduct inspections of security on a daily basis around airline operational premises.
  • Plan out an evacuation strategy and implement it incase such a situation arises.
  • Routinely review security footages to identify suspicious activity.
  • Coordinate with other security agencies.

  • Coordinate with the flight operations and maintenance personnel on security issues.
  • Ensure the protection of the airline assets including aircraft, operational, maintenance and security equipment.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Job Summary:  The Director Maintenance and Engineering is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of high quality, cost effective, safe, efficient and reliable engineering and maintenance functions, which meet regulatory and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) requirements. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure safe and efficient management of all aspects of the Airline's maintenance and engineering functions.
  • Ensure that the Maintenance and Engineering Department is adequately resourced and managed.
  • Ensure that all maintenance is carried out in a timely and efficient manner inline with approved standards.
  • Prepare the annual budget and monitor the costs of maintenance and engineering operations within the approved budget.
  • Manage and monitor all contracted maintenance organizations to ensure that the maintenance operations are in accordance with the agreed contractual terms.
  • Ensure preparation, update, amendment and publication of the Company’s Approved Maintenance Procedures Manual (AMP) and Maintenance Control Manual (MCM), of both the Air Operator and the maintenance organisation.
  • Liaise with the Quality Department to ensure that the company’s internal and external audits are carried out in accordance with the approved Audit Plan.
  • Establish standards for employment of maintenance and engineering staff of the Company.
  • Provide constant technical and reliability improvements for the aircraft fleet.
  • Work in close cooperation with the Head of Procurement in determining terms of reference for proposals and service level agreements for technical handling, maintenance organisations, major maintenance contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) standards, as applicable.
  • Work in close cooperation with the commercial department to ensure that all aircraft are available during busy periods with minimum down time.
  • Maintain effective communication with all parties involved in maintenance operations, continuing airworthiness and quality assurance.
  • Negotiate for, monitor and implement third party agreements on behalf of Uganda Airlines.
  • Oversee the delivery/re-delivery of aircraft on the behalf of Uganda Airlines from/to aircraft manufacturers and lessors.
  • Participate in accidents and incidents investigation.
  • Ensure effective management review and feedback to the Accountable Manager based on established measures, assessment of maintenance and operational experience with respect to continuing airworthiness and quality audits.
  • Review safety recommendations resulting from technical and safety investigations/audits of operational and maintenance events and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
  • On request of the Accountable Manager, report to the Board regularly on departmental performance and fleet status.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Uganda Airlines Director Maintenance and Engineering job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's License with appropriate airframe and power-plant or Avionics ratings.
  • Aircraft maintenance and engineering management background and relevant experience in continuous airworthiness management.
  • At least ten years of experience in aircraft maintenance, with five of those in a senior managerial role.
  • Familiarity with aircraft types operated by the Uganda Airlines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Summary:  The Captain will be designated for each flight under the Uganda Airlines Operations. The Captain will be in-charge of the safety, security and conduct of flight while on duty and supervise all actions and activities of other crew members who work on that flight.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Have authority for overall management of the entire flight, ensuring safety and security of the Aircraft and persons on board.
  • Have authority to give all operationally required commands as he deems necessary for the purpose of securing the safety of aircraft and of persons or property carried therein.
  • Have authority to disembark any person, baggage or any part of the cargo, which in his opinion, may represent a potential hazard to the safety of the aircraft or its occupants.
  • Not permit any person to be carried on-board the aircraft who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, to the extent that the safety of the aircraft or its occupants is likely to be endangered.
  • Have the right to refuse transportation of inadmissible passengers, deportees or persons in custody if their carriage poses any risk to the safety of the aircraft or its occupants.
  • Ensure that all passengers are briefed on the location of emergency exits and the location and use of relevant safety and emergency equipment.
  • Ensure that all operational procedures and checklists are complied with in accordance with the Operations Manual.
  • In an emergency situation that requires immediate decision and action, he may take any measures deemed necessary under those circumstances. In such cases he may deviate from rules, operational procedures and methods in the interest of safety.
  • Not permit any crew member to perform any activity during take-off, initial climb, final approach and landing except those duties required for the safe operation of the aircraft.
  • Ensure that, during a particular flight, the entire crew adheres to duty and rest time limitations.
  • Not permit a Flight Data Recorder to be disabled, switched off or erased during flight nor permit recorded data to be erased after flight in the event of an accident or an incident subject to mandatory reporting.
  • Not permit a Cockpit Voice Recorder to be disabled or switched off during flight.
  • Ensure that the pre-flight inspection has been carried-out and decide whether or not to accept the aircraft with unserviceability allowed by the CDL or MEL.
  • Ensure that sufficient fuel is uplifted for the trip and aeroplane refueling is supervised.
  • Check fuel caps/cover for security and correct installation after refuelling.
  • Ensure that during taxi, take-off and landing or in turbulence, all passengers are safely secured in their seats with the seat belt sign on and all cabin baggage properly stowed.
  • Ensure that cockpit crew wear shoulder harnesses up to Flight Level 150 and Cabin crew are properly secured in their seats during take-off and landing.
  • Ensure that private /personal letters or parcels are not transported on Company aircraft.
  • Be familiar with duties to be performed on the respective aircraft systems regarding handling of normal/abnormal and emergency procedures.
  • Other than his overall responsibility, he is authorised to delegate tasks to his crew and to other suitable personnel. It is his duty to co-ordinate, supervise and check the tasks of his crew.
  • He maintains good CRM, encourages teamwork and ensures that his crew members receive all information essential for the performance of their tasks.
  • He co-ordinates the performance of flight deck related tasks and duties and decides on who acts as Pilot Flying (PF)
  • In order to promote the aeronautical experience and knowledge of his Co-pilot, the Commander shall give him the opportunity to plan and conduct the flight, or portions thereof, under his supervision
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Job Summary:  The Capacity Building Specialist will provide technical and program oversight and direction in the areas of malaria prevention and treatment services for a USAID Uganda Malaria Action Program for Districts Activity. This Uganda PMI flagship program aims to centrally support the scale up of malaria prevention, diagnosis, and treatment within districts facilities in accordance with National Malaria Control Strategic Plan. The program operates in 47 districts in the Central, Mid-Western and West Nile regions. Responsibilities include providing leadership and technical guidance in the development and implementation of capacity building activities for malaria control and prevention under the leadership of the Senior Technical Advisor for Malaria and in coordination with other Jhpiego Technical Advisors. He/she will ensure the technical and methodological soundness of activities and, in collaboration with the project team and partners, support the design of service delivery strategies, based on sound and current scientific evidence.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide technical oversight, strategic direction and ensure appropriate support for the planning and implementation of program capacity building activities for malaria control and prevention at district level
  • Identify clinical training needs and assist in the design and implementation of measures to address those needs
  • Develop and implement a capacity building plan for local partners for malaria prevention and treatment
  • Collaborate with all local stakeholders and implementing partners, especially the Ministry of Health and other implementing partners, in order to ensure that all activities conform to the national requirements and regulations
  • Mobilize national level clinical/technical expertise to resolve clinical issues that affect local public policy or program design
  • Guide in development/review of evidence-based clinical training materials, job aids, and curricula, supervisory systems and other training materials and ensure their use for implementation of malaria control and prevention in line with the needs of USAID and the Government of Uganda
  • Provide mentoring and capacity building at the individual and organizational level in malaria control and prevention
  • Coordinate assessments, site strengthening, follow-up and supervision, advocacy, demand creation, policy support, capacity-building and M&E across program sites as required by program activities
  • Guide the integration of malaria services with maternal, newborn and child health, FP/RH, HIV and TB, and nutrition
  • Assist in sustaining and improving existing databases that monitor achievements in malaria control and prevention at district and contribute to regional and national level achievements
  • Advocate with national, regional, district and community-level health institutions to raise awareness about their role in improving health outcomes in malaria control and prevention
  • Develop and implement a capacity building plan for local NGOs, including but not limited to proposal development capacity, technical capacity, financial and administrative management capacity
  • Guide DHMTs, professional associations, other district stakeholders in the use of evidence-based standards for competency in malaria control and prevention

  • Contribute to development of the project strategic plan, work plan, and program monitoring, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health, USAID and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to policy support, capacity-building and M&E across program sites, in close coordination and collaboration with USAID, relevant ministries of health
  • Work with M&E staff to design, implement a plan to track data/results related to malaria control and prevention
  • Oversee data collection, analysis and development of conclusions and recommendations to further strengthen program implementation

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Jhpiego Capacity Building Specialist job placement must hold a medical degree (doctor or nursing) or Master’s in Public Health or other relevant degree.
  • Seven years’ experience applying maternal, newborn and child health program activities.
  • Qualification as a “master trainer”; experience in training health workers in capacity building for malaria control and prevention or related health disciplines
  • Experience in curricula development for health personnel/ experience building capacity at individual and organizational levels
  • Skill in at least two or more of the following technical areas: strengthening service delivery programs, training, pre-service/in-service education, performance and quality improvement, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience with a mix of practical technical skills in malaria program implementation necessary for strengthening malaria service delivery at the regional, national, clinical and community-level
  • The ability to liaise with senior MOH officials and dignitaries, executives of NGOs, FBOs, CBOs, the for-profit business community, and senior members of the donor community;
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Ugandan healthcare system, particularly the public health system, experience living and working in Uganda preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentations skills in English
  • Strong skills in word processing and Excel spread sheets
  • Familiarity with USAID or other USG administrative, management and reporting procedures and systems

Watoto Child Care Ministries is a ministry of Watoto Church that rescues vulnerable children and restores dignity to them by providing holistically for their physical, spiritual and emotional needs. Watoto has operations in Kampala, Wakiso, Mpigi and Gulu.

Job Summary:  The School Administrator will be responsible for the managing the administration and budget monitoring for the Watoto schools in Biira, Suubi and Laminadera

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Provide support in the Finance & Procurement roles for the Education department.
  • Monitor and control all the expenditures for the Watoto schools in the village in line with an approved budget.
  • Participate in the budget planning process and monitoring of the approved budget. Manage all service related contracts to ensure excellent delivery for the education department.
  • Regularly update and review the schools financial position and coordinate cash inflows and outflows to ensure adequate liquidity at all times.
  • Ensure adequate stock of all required office and educational supplies for day to day running and maintain an up-to-date inventory of the same
  • Institute regular servicing and maintenance of all station technical equipment an sites and arrange repair where necessary.       
Manage the Education Department day to day Administrative Operations
  • Working with the Head of Education Operations and Education services, provide support in the implementation of clear guidelines & policies on appropriate use of all company assets & properties to ensure no abuse.
  • Supervise the proper filing and storage of all the education department documents and provide general clerical/administrative support
  • Providing administrative support for examinations and attendance including monitoring examination timetables and evaluation of student performance Coordination of all travel and accommodation requirements for staff and students for trips/school events.
  • Working together with the head teachers of Watoto schools in the village, coordinate co-curricular requirements and activities to ensure effective utilisation of resources
  • Circulate information about meetings and minute-taking and sharing of minutes and action points after the meeting.     
Coordination and management of support staff in the education department.
  • Coordinate the all staff leave schedules to ensure business continuity and provide support in the exit process of staff
  • Spearhead the organisation of all staff meetings, retreats, workshops and help in planning for the teacher’s free week
  • Follow through on staff compliance to the existing policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate and monitor supporting staff attendance, their performance and adherence to the existing policies.
  • Coordinate in the recruitment, induction and orientation of new staff in the education department and provide support on working tools to enable them smoothly to settle into their new roles.     
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Watoto School Administrator job must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Social Sciences or a related degree.
  • Three years of working experience within the education sector in teaching and administration.
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationship with key stakeholders.
  • A team player, results oriented, self - motivated, able to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent Oral and Written communication skills
