Job Summary: The Finance Assistant will be responsible for performing routine administrative/financial functions such as processing of invoices, payment of bills and assisting in reconciliation of accounts in connection with IOM activities in Uganda:
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keenly review payment requests in order to certify correctness ensuring corresponding supporting documents have been provided and the correct project ID/WBS and GL account codes have been recorded in all financial documents;
- Post accounting transactions in SAP accounting system;
- Maintain the finance filing system up to date ensuring proper custody of financial documents -vouchers, bank correspondence etc.;
- Prepare bank reconciliations on a monthly basis;
- Review vendor accounts on a regular basis;
- Filing VAT returns and following up with URA for Tax refunds, perform periodic reconciliation of VAT GL.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time..
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the International Organization for Migration IOM Finance Assistant job opportunity should hold CPA 2 (Having completed sections 1 to 4) or other relevant accounting qualifications.
- At least four years of prior work experience in a busy accounts office.
- Prior work experience in an international organization an added advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills. Mature individual, able to work independently, pays attention to detail and meets deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in performing responsibilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
- Proficiency in computer skills, especially in MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word etc).
- Prior experience in usage of SAP an added advantage
