KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Review transaction documents to ensure compliance to standards before making payment
Making sure that all invoices passed for payment have the relevant supporting
documentation
Facilitate signing of all cheques and work closely with Logistic department to ensure that
dispatch is done effectively
Update the cashbooks and bank book accounts and ensure they are updated before
cheques are dispatched (for effective cash flow management)
Ensure accuracy of cost centers being charged on requests
To maintain and keep all finance files updated making sure that on daily basis all the relevant
accounts documents are filed correctly and timely
Prepare and reconcile bank balance and monitor related accounts clearing emerging
issues/errors in a timely manner
Analyze all individual floats and loans and make close follow up for retirement or deduction
Review the float accountabilities and prepare the monthly journal
Administer Petty cash and ensure that top ups are done on time
Management of insurance and safety of Cash and cash equivalents
Provide a leave cover for Finance officer as and when required.
Payment to casual labor with proper verification of casual labor and documentation from the
refugee
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING
TECHNICAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
Relevant academic qualifications in Accounting, financial management, commerce, economics or
related field (A degree in Finance, Business Administration or Commerce) and professional
certification in accounting an added advantage. Fresh graduates are highly desirable with some
experience.
At least 1 years of relevant professional experience in an NGO setting
Proficiency in numeracy skills and good computer skills (Excel especially, Word)
Ability to prioritize work issues to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and adjust to constantly
changing situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through
Good analytical and conceptual thinking skills with a proven proactive approach to identifying and
resolving problems and suggesting improvements that continuously seek to provide a better service
to Oxfam
Excellent personal communication skills, in written and verbal English
A high level of self-awareness, personal energy, stamina and flexibility
Ability to work creatively, effectively and under own initiative, pays attention to detail
Commitment to Oxfam’s overall aims and policies and experience of promoting women’s rights and
the interests of marginalized people in all aspects of Oxfam’s work and adhere to the code of
conduct of the organization.
