SUPER FAN/YOUTH COORDINATOR
The Well Told Story group creates the 2x Emmy Award-winning, multi-media communications platform, Shujaaz, using rigorous research and user-centred design to inspire and motivate millions of young Tanzanians and Kenyans to take action to improve their lives and engage with urgent issues that shape their future.
Our mission is to create measurable social and economic value for youth in East Africa. To do this we direct our research and our media on the big challenges, ideas and issues that are critical to the future wellbeing of East Africa’s all-important, yet hardest to reach, youth demographic.
OBJECTIVE
To create, facilitate and coordinate a Shujaaz SuperFan network of young people across Tanzania and to coordinate their activities in target Districts including: social networking, gathering content, engaging with youth clubs, reinforcing linkages and referrals to youth friendly health clinics, provision of resources, materials and support, and monitoring project activities, as a part of the wider USAID Tulonge Afya project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Under the supervision of Shujaaz Network Coordinator and in collaboration with the USAID Tulonge Afya zonal manager , identify, onboard & enroll Shujaaz Superfans to the network
• Oversee the day to day management of Superfans (communication, activity alignment, supervision, trouble-shooting)
• Ensure that Superfans network can be leveraged for WTS and Tulonge Afya needs (content collection, distribution and referral)
• Oversee contracts and payments for Superfans network
• Ensure Superfans are provided with all essential tools & information required to enable them to carry out their role within the community e.g. mobile behavior change tools (videos, discussion guides, games, community-generated content) around a variety of topics (health, livelihoods, education) to engage and refer audience members, and have the network and connection to refer youth to health facilities.
• Support the development of an annual on-the-ground Superfan workplan
• Support the development of the training curriculum of Superfans and oversee the training of Superfans (in partnership with Dimagi for training on the use of the app)
• Support the USAID Tulonge Afyaprogram manager to coordinate and implement activities in target regions.
• Oversee the coordination, logistics of USAID Tulonge Afya activities in target regions.
• Participate and provide updates on implemented Shujaaz work plan activities during the monthly USAID Tulonge Afya zonal meetings.
• Represent USAID Tulonge Afya in youth related district level stakeholder meetings.
• Working closely with the USAID Tulonge Afya zonal manager, build and establish effective working relationship with district level government youth officers including CBOs, FBOs and NGO implementing youth related SBCC activities.
• Develop and share monthly Shujaaz program activity update reports, highlighting lessons learnt and key success stories.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• A University degree in a relevant subject
• At least three years of work experience preferably with some relevance to the health sector
• Proven leadership skills as well as skills in facilitation, team building and coordination of youth networks
• Strong knowledge and proven use of sms and social media for communication
• Ability to work together with multiple stakeholders; including both private sector and government
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English and
Kiswahili
• Good data management; data analysis skills

• Willingness to live and work in Zonal Region (tbd) and to travel to and work in remote areas across Tanzania
