EngenderHealth is urgently seeking applications from highly qualified Tanzanian candidates to fill in the Knowledge Management and Research Coordination Officer (KMRCO) position based in Dar es Salaam.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Devises a detailed timeline for implementation of study activities in collaboration with the EHT program/technical team.
• Works with the PI and co-PIs to develop and implement rigorous process evaluation for operations and implementation research studies, including but not limited to creating data collection tools, training appropriate staff on tools, collation and quality assurance of incoming data.
• Coordinates the day-to-day activities of any technical support staff specifically engaged in study conduct; acts as liaison between program and technical staff in Dar es Salaam and EH headquarters.
• In consultation with the EH Field Office Managers, EH/EHT ME&R staff and relevant MOHCDGEC counterparts, ensures the logistical planning and execution of study activities including but not limited to: coordinating stakeholder engagement activities, assisting with facility upgrades and commodities logistics, planning training activities, coordinating trainee follow-up by trainers, etc.
• In coordination with PI and partner organizations local staff, ensures the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities.
• Works with PI to implement quality control processes for research activities, including of intervention implementation by EHT and partners.
• Acts as the primary administrative point of contact for PI and EH/EHT staff and as the principle in-country operational liaison for partner organizations.
• Monitors and documents in detail the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of partner research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by the PI, EHT/EH staff or the donor.
• Manages the day-to-day activities of EHT supported studies including problem solving, communication and protocol management, in collaboration and consultation with the PI and other team members
• Assists PI/EHT staff in submission of protocol to NIMR and provides assistance in maintenance of IRB status.
• Leads weekly team coordination meetings, providing updates on progress and presenting any challenges for trouble-shooting or deviations from the study timeline and budget.
• Assists in preliminary analysis of study data and drafting and editing of study reports and briefs.
• Leverage effective processes, systems and tools to share knowledge within EngenderHealth and between with donors, partners and other stakeholders
• Coordinate speakers and logistics for staff learning session, including reviewing or preparing presentations and facilitating IT need.
• Conduct routine assessment of staff learning needs or knowledge gaps to be addressed through trainings or learning session
• Contribute to KM resources by documenting best practices and capturing KM practice through written stories (and sharing with other EngenderHealth field offices and HQ)
• Assist EH staff in accessing KM tools and resources and developing communication materials for visibility at meetings, conferences, business development opportunities etc.
• Assist the IT department in maintenance and organization of the shared drives on the office network and ensure it is user-friendly and staff are orientated on how to use the platform
• Develop, edit, write and disseminate various types of technical and non-technical communications pieces as needed.
• Provide quality control of EngenderHealth produced materials and products through high level editorial assistance to and review of routine project reporting and project publications, such as technical briefs, special report, external briefings and presentation and request technical assistance from New York as necessary.
• Backstop EngenderHealth Tanzania field offices with regards to KM and research needs and ensuring technical assistance is requested and received from New York as necessary and ensure New York staff is aware of activities and vice versa
• Manage consultancies and procurement related to KM and research
• Participate in organizational and external KM and communications groups such as the internal Knowledge Management Working Group, the Global Health Knowledge Collaborative and HIPNet
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS
• Degree in demography, social sciences, statistics or a related discipline. A background in health science or related discipline is also an advantage.
• At least four years of professional experience in knowledge management or communications, and health research.
• Experience in research and monitoring in a clinical setting required.
• Experience in managing and implementing health-related research studies, including all aspects of coordination, ethical approvals, activity management and process documentation.
• Experience with data analysis with statistical packages like SPSS, STATA excel etc. and in the use of personal computers, specifically word processing applications.
• Proven experience on performing quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in a professional capacity.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Experience working on donor funded projects.
• Prior experience working in maternal, reproductive and sexual health preferred
