JOB TITLE: Teacher – Biology and Chemistry
LOCATION: Temeke – Dar Es Salaam
Reporting to: Head of School/Academic Master
Key Objectives:
(a) To develop and deliver theory and practical Biology and Chemistry classes to students.
(b) To undertake teaching duties and the associated functions of preparation, assessment, moderation and curriculum development.
Main Tasks:
(a) Preparing and delivering suitable, quality course material for students, in an efficient and timely manner.
(b) Regularly setting and marking homework/assignments, in accordance with School policies and procedures.
(c) Maintaining records of work, and submitting the same for inspection by the promoted staff at least.
(d) Assisting in the coverage of classes for absent colleagues as requested by promoted staff, within contractual and School conditions.
(e) Participating in staff development programmes and in-service training courses within and out with the School.
(f) Preparing student reports as required by Senior Management.
(g) Attending School meetings as required.
(h) Undertaking the recording of student attendances, in an efficient and timeous manner.
(i) Exercising care in the use of equipment, and reporting faults to the appropriate authority.
(j) Completing such documents and returns as are requested by School management, in an efficient and timeous fashion.
(k) Maintaining up to date knowledge of those subjects taught.
(l) Recommending, for purchase, appropriate books, audio-visual materials, software, equipment and other materials.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Working knowledge of the subject areas of Biology and Chemistry.
Good Communication skills.
Good Interpersonal skills.
Good Organizational skills.
Computer literate.
*Knowledge of on-line learning.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry.
*Teaching experience.
*Teaching qualification.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
Ability to work on own initiative.
Ability to build and maintain effective teacher/learner relationships with students.
Ability to work in a team.
Ability to meet deadlines.
