Policy Advocacy Position Description
Asylum Access Tanzania active seeks applications from well-prepared candidates with impeccable writing skills and a passion for social justice for the Policy Advocacy position. Following an intensive training program in international and domestic refugee law and response, VAs are given the opportunity to engage with asylum law in the Tanzanian administrative system, help refugees assert their full scope of rights, train refugee community leaders and participate in local, regional, and international policy advocacy.
Policy Advocacy Position Responsibilities
Duties may include but not limited to:
- Assist the Country Director in the implementation of policy advocacy strategy of AATZ
- Participate in local, regional and global networks to ensure the strengthening of AATZ goals
- Help in advising governmental and international organisms to apply public policy and meet established national and international standards as well as pressure them to improve and develop new standards
- Assist in the update and monitoring of the Annual Plan of AATZ
- Assist on initial setup NETWORKS upon which AATZ is involved.
Required Qualifications:
- A degree in law or public policy or international studies or human rights or refugee rights or other relevant master’s programs
- Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups. Candidate should be culturally sensitive
- Basic working knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive, Ms Office and related tools (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a non-profit setting with limited resources
- Strong research, writing and communication skills
- Strong initiative and ability to take ownership of projects, manage multiple deadlines, and work effectively with a high attention to detail **
Location:This position is based out of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania for the entire duration of the commitmentHours and duration:This is a full-time, unpaid volunteer position requiring a minimum commitment of 6 months.
